Wade Street update

30 May by Andrew Wicking

Hi members, supporters and players,

Just advising that there has been another attempt overnight to force entry to various doors in the Pavilion. While they have not been successful in gaining entry, nevertheless they have caused significant damage to at least two of the door locks and possibly the doors themselves. Council has been notified and trades will be onsite this afternoon to make repairs. It is very disappointing that this continues to happen to us, but also a reminder to be vigilant in ensuring all doors are locked at the end of training and on game days. I will again be raising a request that Council install external cameras.

In other news, some will have seen that the temporary change rooms are now onsite and in the process of being connected to services. To remove any doubt, existing arrangements remain in place for this weekend’s BJFL and CVFL matches. That is, our teams continue to use the Home rooms. Senior club volunteers will be onsite Sunday to move some of the heavier items (fridges etc) in anticipation that our move to the current Away rooms will occur before next week’s games. We will also take over the current Away bench as part of that move. As previously advised in the chat, we ask that parents etc refrain from parking in the Southern (school) end of the ground as of now. The contractor is still to bring in their equipment and trades will be onsite doing preliminary works before the area is handed over and fenced off next week. There is plenty of parking in the streets around the ground but please be mindful of our neighbours.

Finally, I have requested that Council give some attention to the centre wicket, i.e. water it! We acknowledge that it is very hard and a risk for all teams (Juniors and Seniors). I expect Parks to be onsite today to soften it up. But Team Managers should check it this weekend, prior to their games, as part of the safety check.

Thanks all
Andrew
